The Problem
The most common web design mistakes are lack of: focus, coherence, typographic hierarchy, whitespace, colour contrast, visual interest, legibility, navigation, search engine optimization and mobile-friendliness.
The Solution
Define the purpose of the website and focus on that. Everything else should be secondary. Create a consistent look and feel throughout the site. Use the same colours, fonts, and style elements on every page. Use headings and subheadings to create a typographic hierarchy. This makes the content easier to scan and more understandable. Use whitespace to break up content and make it more readable. Too much text on a page can be overwhelming. Make sure there is enough colour contrast between the background and the text. This will make content easier to read. Use images and other visual elements to add interest to pages. Boring pages are less likely to hold people’s attention. Use legible fonts that are easy to read. Fancy fonts may look nice, but they can be difficult to read. Make sure the site is easy to navigate. People should be able to find what they’re looking for without any trouble. Optimize the site for search engines. This will help people find the site when they’re searching for related topics. Make sure the site is mobile-friendly.
